This browser-based Unit Converter accepts a numeric value, source unit, and target unit, then displays the converted result across 12 categories: length, mass, area, volume, temperature, speed, time, binary storage, pressure, energy, power, and force. Results at or above 1 are rounded to at most four decimal places; smaller results use four significant digits, so the display is not suitable as a metrology certificate or an unrounded scientific record. Regional names matter: the volume category uses US liquid units, and storage uses binary IEC factors (KiB, MiB, GiB), not decimal KB, MB, or GB. Calculations stay in this browser. See the unit conversion engineering guide and unit conversion definition.
  1. Select the unit category from the top tabs (e.g., Length, Mass, Temperature).
  2. Enter the value you want to convert in the 'From' input field.
  3. Choose the source unit from the left dropdown menu.
  4. Choose the target unit from the right dropdown menu.
  5. The converted result will appear instantly in the 'To' field. You can click the copy icon to copy the result.

How do I convert between metric and imperial length or mass?

Choose Length or Mass, enter the source value, and select the source and target units. The tool converts through the category's base unit. For regulated, contractual, or laboratory work, verify the required standard and preserve more precision than this display provides.

How are Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin converted?

Temperature uses affine formulas rather than a simple ratio: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15. A temperature value and a temperature interval are different concepts; this tool converts values. Physical Kelvin temperatures below absolute zero are not meaningful even if a calculator accepts the number.

Does gallon mean US gallon or Imperial gallon?

The gallon, quart, pint, cup, fluid ounce, tablespoon, and teaspoon options in this tool are US liquid units. An Imperial gallon is different: 4.54609 liters versus 3.785411784 liters for a US liquid gallon. Confirm the regional system before converting recipes or specifications.

Are KB and KiB the same?

No. KB is decimal and normally means 1,000 bytes; KiB is binary and means 1,024 bytes. This tool's binary storage category uses IEC binary factors and labels them KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, and PiB.

How does the tool round conversion results?

The converter first limits JavaScript floating-point noise to 12 significant digits. It then displays up to four decimal places for absolute values at least 1, or four significant digits for smaller values. Repeated conversions of the displayed result can accumulate rounding error.

Can I use these results for engineering or compliance calculations?

Use the tool for quick checks, not as the sole authority for safety-critical, legal, trade, dosing, or laboratory decisions. Confirm the unit definition, regional convention, uncertainty, significant figures, and required standard, then use a validated calculation pipeline.
